FORGE-AI Launches First Wave of AI Researchers Training

The FORGE-AI project kicked off its first training workshop on November 11–12 at the Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics in Tbilisi. Over two days, early-career researchers came together for a learning experience focused on turning research into real-world impact.

Day 1 focused on shaping early-stage AI ideas into practical, user-driven solutions. After the welcome session, participants dove into startup fundamentals, exploring how to turn research into real-world products. With guidance from Creative Cluster and DFKI, they engaged in team exercises to define target users, draft value propositions, and map possible impact. Afternoon sessions introduced user-centered design and storytelling techniques, helping participants articulate their project vision clearly and effectively. Teams applied these skills directly through collaborative narrative-building exercises.

Day 2 shifted toward strategic frameworks and real-world AI deployment. The morning opened with sessions on intellectual property fundamentals and Responsible AI practices, followed by an exploration of viable AI business models. These sessions, led by experts from DFKI and Creative Cluster, gave participants practical insights into how to build ethical, scalable, and legally protected AI solutions. In the afternoon, teams applied these concepts in an extended Business Model Canvas workshop, refining their initial ideas through guided teamwork. The day concluded with an open Q&A, closing reflections, and a shared toast to mark the successful launch of the FORGE-AI training journey.

The workshop marks the first step in FORGE-AI’s broader mission to equip young researchers with not only technical expertise, but also the entrepreneurial mindset and strategic awareness needed to bring tangible impact in an evolving European AI landscape.

With more training sessions, secondments, and joint research initiatives ahead, the energy and ambition on display in Tbilisi set a strong tone for what’s to come.
